BATLEXP G350: The K-TEC Edition

This is not the raw device you get from a generic importer. It is a fully configured, ready-to-play retro gaming handheld — and K-TEC’s most affordable.

The BATLEXP G350 is a pocket-sized vertical handheld with a superb 3.5-inch IPS screen and satisfying controls that punch well above its price tag. I have spent hours replacing the generic stock software with a refined, performance-tuned operating system. I do the invisible work — the tweaking, the testing, the per-game configuration — so that your only job is to play.

The K-TEC Configuration: What I Did

Here is everything I have done to make this device ready for you:

1. The Foundation: dArkOS

I have wiped the factory operating system and installed dArkOS — a modern, actively maintained successor to ArkOS that receives regular updates and supports lots of gaming systems. This is newer, more capable software than you will find on any comparable pre-configured device.

  • I: Replaced the stock interface with a visual games library complete with box art, descriptions, and a custom K-TEC theme.
  • You get: A beautiful, browsable collection of your games — organized by system, with artwork and descriptions, ready to play.

2. The Tuning: Per-Platform Performance

Factory settings are generic — designed to work “well enough” on every device. I have manually configured every emulator for this specific RK3326 chipset.

  • I: Selected the best-performing emulator core for each platform and tuned it for this specific RK3326 chipset — including PS1, N64, Amiga, and PSP.
  • You get: The best possible performance this chip can deliver, with none of the audio stutter, visual glitches, or wrong-speed gameplay that plagues unconfigured devices.

3. The Detail: Per-Game Configuration

This is where the real invisible work lives — and no other reseller does this.

  • I: Created 41 individual arcade game controller remaps so that trackball, spinner, and twin-stick games play correctly on a handheld gamepad. Configured per-game Commodore 64 joystick port settings so games that expect a specific port simply work. Added 30+ per-game Vectrex screen overlays that recreate the original plastic screen overlays shipped with the real cartridges. Mapped Amstrad CPC keyboard controls to the gamepad for specific games.
  • You get: Games that work the moment you select them — correct controls, correct display, no troubleshooting needed.

4. The Display: Screen Optimization

  • I: Configured intelligent aspect ratios for every system so games display at their correct proportions. Applied shaders where appropriate to make retro pixels look their best on the G350’s high-resolution screen. Set up automatic screen cropping for classic home computers.
  • You get: A picture that fills the 3.5-inch display beautifully, with none of the squashed or stretched images you get on an unconfigured device.

5. The Extras: Quality-of-Life Features

  • I: Enabled automatic save states (the game saves your progress when you exit and loads it when you return). Configured fast-forward (hold R2) for grinding through levels. Enabled rewind (hold SELECT + L2) so you can undo a mistake. Set up a dual SD card system that separates the operating system from your games.
  • You get: A device that respects your time. Pick up where you left off. Fast-forward through the bits you’ve played before. Rewind that unfair death. All configured and ready.

A Note on the G350, R36S, and RGB20S

If you have been researching budget retro handhelds, you have probably come across the R36S and PowKiddy RGB20S. Here is how the G350 compares.

The R36S and PowKiddy RGB20S are popular devices that share the same chipset and form factor as the G350. They are cheap and widely available — but the R36S in particular is widely known for poor build quality and stiff, unresponsive controls.

The BATLEXP G350 shares the same internal hardware but feels like a different device. The buttons are responsive, the d-pad is precise, and the overall build quality is noticeably better. It feels like a proper gaming device, not a toy.

No other UK retailer sells a pre-configured G350. If you want the better-built device with expert optimization, this is the one.

Hardware & Feel

A look at the physical machine.

The G350 features a 3.5-inch IPS display at 640×480 resolution — the same screen specs as devices costing twice the price. At just 191 grams, it slips into your pocket and goes anywhere. The controls are a genuine highlight: dual thumbsticks, responsive shoulder buttons, and a d-pad and face buttons with a crisp, satisfying feel that surprises at this price point.

  • Processor: Powered by the RK3326 Quad-Core — a budget chip that handles 8-bit, 16-bit, and PS1-era systems with ease.
  • Battery: A 3200 mAh battery provides 4–6 hours of gameplay on a single charge.
  • Dual SD Cards: The operating system lives on its own 16GB card. Your games live on a separate 64GB or 128GB card. This means your games are safe even if the system card ever needs replacing.

Supported Systems

Your K-TEC Edition G350 comes pre-configured to support a vast library of gaming history, including:

  • Home Consoles: PlayStation 1, SNES, SEGA Mega Drive, NES, Master System, Atari 2600/7800, Vectrex.
  • Handhelds: Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, Game Boy, Atari Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket.
  • Computers: Amiga, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, MSX.
  • Arcade: Classic arcade titles with per-game controller optimization.

A Note for the Enthusiast: This device excels at 8-bit, 16-bit, and PS1-era gaming. Systems like N64, PSP, Nintendo DS, and Dreamcast are partially supported — some titles run well, others struggle. It is not capable of PS2, GameCube, Wii, or 3DS and above. I am honest about what this device can and cannot do, because I would rather you knew before you bought.

The “K-TEC Guarantee”

Why is this worth the investment?

Cheap handhelds often come with “no-name” SD cards that corrupt within weeks — taking your save files, your progress, and hours of gameplay with them. I refuse to cut that corner.

Every G350 from K-TEC Systems ships with brand-name microSD cards. I am so confident in these components that I offer a Lifetime Guarantee on the storage cards. If it fails, I replace it.

Ready to play, right out of the box. No setup. No frustration. Just gaming.
